As most of us know the season is coming to an end with Regionals and Nationals around the corner it is amazing that another season of USAG has passed so quickly. Now it is time to gear up for the summer leagues. In the state of Colorado it is time for CARA and EAGLES to take the spotlight at gyms around the state.
While these are not USAG these recreational leagues have something to offer all of their own. These are great programs for kids and families with more going on then just gymnastics. They support their athletes with a fun and laid back environment focusing on the sport with less intensity then USAG. For many families this is a much more affordable option to USAG. I can't speak for other states programs as I've never been directly involved with those programs, but for Colorado these programs are great.
Following the highschool rules it is a very easy transition for athletes to jump right into highschool gymnastics. Many programs see a lot of sucess with this transition rather then from USAG to highschool. So might this be something that could benifit more gyms around the country?
With summers as the usual "dead time" this is the prime time for the recreational leagues to kick off their competitive seasons offering one more source of income to get through the summer months. Definitely something to think about.
